The BKF 2000 is a contemporary reinterpretation of the iconic BKF chair, originally created in 1938 by the Argentine architects Antonio Bonet, Juan Kurchan, and Jorge Ferrari Hardoy, members of the Austral Group. That first version—an emblem of Río de la Plata modernism—combined a lightweight metal frame with a leather sling that provided form and flexibility, becoming a worldwide symbol of Argentine design.
This updated version pays tribute to the original spirit while projecting it into the 21st century. Its geometry becomes more precise and sculptural, maintaining the essence of the tubular steel tripod structure while exploring new materials, proportions, and finishes that enhance its architectural character.
Today, it is part of the urban furniture of the City of Buenos Aires. Built in reinforced concrete and weighing approximately 160 kg, its solid and permanent presence in public space reinterprets a modern design icon, transforming it into a monumental piece that merges art, architecture, and city.
